Yes, per-user fees force efficient use of limited resources.
No, the benefits of roads flow also to those who do not use them. We should all help pay through taxes.

F.W. Dodge Launches Overnight Delivery Service of Hard Copy Plans And Specifications to Anywhere in the United States

Fulfillment Agreement with Plan Express Allows for Speedy Distribution to F.W. Dodge's Internet and Non-Internet Equipped Customers

NASHVILLE, April 19, 2001 - F.W. Dodge, the nation's leading provider of construction information services, and a part of The McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE: MHP) Construction Information Group, has launched a new nationwide distribution capability that will allow it to distribute hard copy, full size, plan drawings and specifications nationwide within 24 hours.

This capability is a result of F.W Dodge's fulfillment agreement with Plan Express of Memphis, TN. Plan Express provides Dodge with a centralized location for printing as well as efficient distribution, providing next day delivery to any location in the continental United States.

Dodge maintains a comprehensive database of construction project activity throughout the United States. The company collects data through extensive research in addition to its own network of correspondents who collect and update project information on over 500,000 active projects in the U.S. and Canada. As part of this collection process, Dodge maintains a vast library of building plans and specifications on most major projects, which are available through the Dodge Plan Rooms, the internet sites dodge.construction.com and www.construction.com, and on CD ROM.

"The future of plan and spec distribution will be via the Internet and because of the construction.com Internet portal, F.W. Dodge is already a single source provider of construction plans and specifications electronically. Although the construction industry has been steadily moving to the Internet for such business services, many construction professionals are not ready to fully utilize the benefits because they don't have the technology or the needed bandwidth yet. This enhanced capability through our agreement with Plan Express is a service to our F.W. Dodge customers who do not work online," said Robert Amico, senior vice president and general manager of F.W. Dodge.

By integrating the order process, Dodge and Plan Express have designed a process that is seamless, easy-to-use, and economical. Because of high volume and courier relationship, Plan Express is able to deliver prints at the lowest rates available. Using state-of-the-art high speed printing equipment, production costs are kept low. Plan Express continues its printing operations well into the evening each day to take advantage of last minute deadlines for shipments from the adjacent courier hub.
