McGraw-Hill Construction Information Group
(CIG) and Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America Form National
Strategic Alliance
NEW YORK, N.Y., January
11, 2001 - The McGraw-Hill Companies' (NYSE: MHP) Construction
Information Group (CIG) and the Associated General Contractors (AGC)
of America today announced a national strategic alliance designed
to enhance the existing business relationship and increase the flow
of information between the two organizations. The agreement will
enable the two organizations to share marketing opportunities and
strategies, while providing AGC members with ease of access to CIG
content, services and applications, along with attractive discounts
on CIG product offerings.
The agreement between the two parties also extends to the Internet.
Construction.com, the point of convergence for all CIG electronic
properties, will be featured via www.agc.org. In turn, key elements
of AGC's Website will be incorporated into construction.com's "Resource
Center."
Additionally, the parties agree to work closely on national conference
and seminar sponsorship opportunities as well as other marketing
initiatives.
"We are extremely proud to be affiliated with the nation's largest
and oldest construction trade association. The AGC has 35,000 member
firms, which include 7,500 general contractors, and through a nationwide
network of chapters, over 14,000 service providers and suppliers
are also associated with the organization, said Norbert Young, president,
McGraw-Hill Construction Information Group. "AGC members already
represent a substantial percentage of CIG's customer community and
this formal agreement will be of great benefit to them."
"This agreement is the logical next step for AGC to take with The
McGraw-Hill Construction Information Group. Our organization has
similar interests and synergies, and now we will work together to
make sure American contractors are equipped with the information
they need to do their job more productively and profitably," said
Stephen E. Sandherr, CEO, Associated General Contractors of America.
