Yes, per-user fees force efficient use of limited resources.
No, the benefits of roads flow also to those who do not use them. We should all help pay through taxes.

McGraw-Hill Construction's Architectural Record Wins 2003 National Magazine Award

Wins General Excellence Category, 100,000-250,000 circulation for March, April, July 2002 issues

NEW YORK -- May 7, 2003 -- Architectural Record, McGraw-Hill Construction's prestigious monthly publication, and part of The McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE: MHP), has won a 2003 National Magazine Award, presented by the American Society of Magazine Editors for the General Excellence category, 100,000-250,000 circulation for the March, April and July 2002 issues. The award ceremony took place today at the Waldorf Astoria, New York City.

For the past 112 years, Architectural Record has been essential to the architectural profession, providing a compelling editorial mix of design ideas and trends, building science, business and professional strategies, exploration of key issues, news, products and computer-aided practice. It is the magazine of The American Institute of Architects (AIA), and in recent years won the Gold Award, Best Magazine 2001 at the Folio Design Awards (Ozzies) and three 2002 Jesse N. Neal Awards.

"We are enormously proud of Robert Ivy, Architectural Record's editor-in-chief, for his leadership and vision," said James H. McGraw, IV, group publisher. "Bob and his superb editorial team deliver excellence in every issue. We congratulate them on this prestigious award."

In describing Architectural Record in this year's program, the judges concluded: "In Architectural Record, buildings are not just places to live and work in, but forms that make visible our deepest values. Imaginatively conceived, gloriously photographed and beautifully written-the magazine goes beneath the surface to make its readers understand why architecture is important."

"This is an exceptional honor for all of us at the magazine," noted Robert Ivy, Architectural Record's editor-in-chief. "Winning the National Magazine Award is a first for us and a tribute to the top-quality of our editorial team."
