BusinessWeek/Architectural Record Winners Announced

(archrecord.construction.com - 08/17/2006)

Today the winners of the 2007 BusinessWeek/Architectural Record awards program were announced. This was the ninth annual installment of the competition, which is run jointly by Architectural Record and BusinessWeek magazines.

Eight jurors selected eight winners and six merit awards from 176 entries which came from all over the globe. The building types vary greatly, from a mid-size retail store to a candy factory turned into a biotech facility. Buildings that receive the award must embody design excellence that contributes to their owners’ business goals in a proficient and demonstrable manner. One office, for example, was characterized by a juror as having “interior spaces which generate tremendous productivity and creativity, fostering collaboration and communication.” A few of the projects also earned LEED sustainability ratings. The award recipients are located in seven U.S. states, as well as Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

The 14 projects, named below, will be featured in November print editions of both Architectural Record and BusinessWeek. In addition, they will be recognized at the Architectural Record Innovation Conference, which will be held in New York on October 11 and 12.

Applications for the next BusinessWeek/Architectural Record awards will be available early next year; the submission deadline is May 15, 2007.
