Amtrak Request for Roof Contractor Letter of Interest:
Replacement of the Existing 30th Street Station Building 2nd & 3rd Floor Roofs, Philadelphia, PA.
Introduction: Amtrak intends to accept Letters of Interest for this solicitation which is an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Project. Responses are to include qualification information that is requested/stated below. Amtrak, at its sole discretion and without discussion, will determine which firms are to be added to its bid list. Interested Roof Contractors that can meet the minimum qualifications listed below should mail or e-mail a Letter of Interest along with qualification correspondence on company letterhead to:

Description: Amtrak intends to engage the services of a qualified roofing contractor to replace 30th Street Station’s 2nd and 3rd Floors existing 32,000+ square foot roof system. The building is located at the intersection of 30th and Market Streets, Philadelphia PA.
The main features of the Work for this project include, but are not limited to, removing the existing roofing systems and insulation, including flashing and other roofing accessories down to, but not including the existing roof deck, and installation of a new FM Class IA-60, cold-applied SBS modified bitumen roof system, including adhered insulation, flashings and roof accessories and the removal/replacement of one 875+ square foot skylight. Roof System is to be provided using one of the following manufacturers: 1) Siplast, 2) Johns Manville, 3) Tamko, 4) Firestone Building Products Corp. The 30th Street Station is an active Passenger Rail Station that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The project cost is estimated at $1M-$1.2M with construction duration of 6 months.
Qualification: Qualification will be based on demonstration of:
- Comparable Roofing project experience with $1M projects
- Qualified list of experienced construction personnel
- Approved QA/QC program
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in SBS modified bitumen roof system
- Financial resources/capability/bonding
- Qualified safety program and proven safety record
- Submit a letter from one, two or all of the manufacturers noted above stating your firm is approved/certified in the application of their product.
Submit a brief narrative on the first six (6) items stated above along with the requested letter from the manufacturer(s).
Letters of Interest and accompanying correspondence/information must be received by COB (5:00 PM local time) on July 3, 2009. It is anticipated that a Solicitation for this procurement will be issued during the third quarter of 2009 and that a contract will be awarded shortly thereafter the bid close date.
