What’s driving the next generation of design in China?
China: Next, a one-day symposium organized by Architectural Record will generate discussion on important topics of concern to architects, students, and the people in the building industry.
Established 116 years ago, Architectural Record is today the leading architecture magazine in the world and enjoys an unsurpassed paid circulation of 114,930 architects, designers, building professionals and decision makers. In 2007, Architectural Record celebrates its 10th anniversary of being the exclusive magazine of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). In China, Architectural Record has been publishing a Chinese language edition in partnership with China Architecture & Building Press since 2005.
At China: Next, Architectural Record will bring together a multi-disciplinary group of architects, designers, artists, filmmakers, planners, and critics to explore the ideas and strategies shaping the future of China’s architecture, art, and urbanism. More than 15 distinguished architects from around the world will speak at the event, around the topics of
- Nostalgia. How contemporary architects in China are using/misusing history and memory.
- Money. How the booming economy is driving/distorting design today.
- Art. How architects are learning from/being led astray by ideas from other fields of art.
- Social justice. How architects and planners are engaging/ignoring people of different socio-economic groups in their designs.
Please join us and 150 creative minds at Architectural Record’s China: Next symposium, October 30, 2007, Shanghai, China! Seats are limited. Please register now!
