The construction industry over the past two years has been largely defined by the steep downturn for homebuilding, but at the same time nonresidential building and public works have held up quite well. In 2008, the economy has moved closer to recession, and financing has tightened for both private and public projects. This keynote will update the 2008 projections for U.S. construction start activity, with the focus on the changing prospects for nonresidential building and public works.
