12:45 PM – 1:30 PM Keynote Address: Your Future: The Now, the New & the Next

It has been said that the future is already here, but unevenly distributed. If this is the case, then the way in which we will be working, designing, living can be observed someplace on the planet today. Chris’s keynote address will be structured around what he calls the 3N’s: the Now, the New and the Next. He will begin by sharing some of the technological tool sets and how they are being utilized on projects today. He’ll then talk about some of the ways in which he, and his colleagues at Arup, are envisioning the technology that they will be engaging very soon. Chris will conclude by sharing some thoughts on the larger global context within which we are all working.

IT from the CFO Perspective

In today’s business environment the promise of IT investments and their actual performance fall under the review of the CFO.  Join CFOs from major construction companies as they discuss the IT issues that present challenges to their companies as they work to build better bottom lines.  The panel will provide insights into such questions as:

  • What drives decisions around technology investments in this economic climate?
  • What do they look for and what are some “red flags” when they are asked to make an investment in technology?
  • What do they consider their most important IT investments and how did they measure their success?
  • How do they deal with the constant pressure to upgrade existing technologies?
  • IT staffing concerns?
  • What ROI measurements of technology investments do they use?
