Engineering News-Record Presents:
Digital Smart Cities
April 24, 2013
Complimentary Webinar
City-scale 3-D models are proliferating and taking on the function of serving as graphical interfaces to deep pools of transportation, utilities and building performance data that is beginning to flow in from design data, smart grids, and embedded sensors. As the networks of information grow policy makers and managers are gaining insight into the way cities actually work as organisms of interconnected facilities, and they are gaining insight into how we may use that understanding to make cities more sustainable and efficient in the future. Cities are beginning to require that new facilities link up and add their geometries and data feeds to the models. As usual, new burdens for construction professionals often come hand-in-hand with new business opportunities. What’s the play for AEC?
