As Vice President of Industry Analytics, Alliances and Strategic Initiatives, Mr. Bernstein leads McGraw-Hill Construction’s (MHC’s) thought leadership and green building initiatives. Under his leadership, MHC has produced a landmark series of SmartMarket Reports documenting green building market trends in the commercial, residential and institutional sectors as well as corporate America and the global marketplace. Mr. Bernstein also oversees landmark research tracking future industry trends on interoperability and BIM, the European and UAE marketplace, public private partnerships, prefabrication and modularization, retrofit market, water efficiency, renewable energy and innovation and he was a key member of the team that launched MHC’s award-winning GreenSource: The Magazine of Sustainable Design. Mr. Bernstein is a member of Princeton University Civil & Environmental Engineering Advisory Council, the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Policy Advisory Board, a council member of UL Environment and a visiting Professor with the University of Reading’s School of Construction Management and Engineering in London, England, where he also serves on their Innovative Construction Research Center Advisory Board. Mr. Bernstein has an M.B.A in Corporate Marketing from Loyola College, an M.S. in Engineering from Princeton University and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Wang Wei
Vice Chairman and Secretary-in-General, Shanghai Green Building Council and Senior Chief Engineer, Shanghai Research Institute of Building Sciences

Mr. Wang Wei is currently the Vice Chairman and Secretary General of Shanghai Green Building Council, Senior Chief Engineer of Shanghai Research Institute of Building Sciences, Vice President of International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction, Director of Green Building Technology Research Center of The Ministry of Construction and Vice President of Shanghai Architectural Society. Since 2000, Wang Wei has been overseen Shanghai Scientific Research Projects “Key Technology Research and System Integration of Ecological Construction” as the chief researcher, and has been the deputy chief officer of the 10th 5-year plan of the National Science and Technology key project “Research on Key Technology of Green Building” and chief researcher of the topic on the “Green Building Technology Integration Platform”. He is also the writer for the “Green Building Evaluation”(GB /T50378-2006 and leads the Ecological Architecture Researchers in studying the Ecological Construction Technology in Shanghai.

Minda Xu
Vice President – China, McGraw-Hill Construction

As Vice President of China, Minda Xu leads McGraw-Hill Construction’s business in this highly dynamic growth market. She joined The McGraw-Hill Companies in 2000 as a member of its Management Development Program, and worked in both New York and London. In 2003, she was tasked to expand McGraw-Hill Construction’s footprint to China. Under her leadership, McGraw-Hill Construction has formed strategic partnership with a number of leading Chinese organizations, and launched new products such as the ENR China ranking, MHC China Council, Architectural Record China, and major industry events including the Global Construction Summit and the Green Building and Energy Efficiency International Conference. The company has established an extensive network in China with government, major industry associations, as well as local and multinational clients. She was relocated to Shanghai in 2006. Ms. Xu started her career as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.E. with distinction in Industrial Management from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Robert Watson
CEO, Eco Tech International Group

Robert Watson is a global leader in the green building movement, having founded the LEED Green Building Rating system of the U.S. Green Building Council where he is a Director.  Watson also is Executive Editor of GreenerBuildings.com. From 1985 to 2006 Rob was a Senior Scientist with the Natural Resources Defense Council where he directed the Green Building and International Energy programs.

Mr. Watson launched the EcoTech International Group in 2007 to deliver integrated green building solutions to China, India and the U.S.

Rob is the only foreigner honored with a Green Building Innovation Award from the Chinese Ministry of Construction and received the 2006 International Association of Energy Engineers Professional Development award. Rob’s work has been featured in The World is Flat 3.0 and columns by Thomas Friedman, Pulitzer prize-winning New York Times author. Rob received his MBA from Columbia University in 2006. He has an M.S. degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. from Dartmouth College where he was a Senior Fellow. 

Olivier Piccolin
Senior Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, Philips Lighting Commercial Asia

Mr. Olivier Piccolin was appointed as Senior Vice-President, Chief Commercial Officer Philips Lighting Asia in January 2009. Mr. Olivier Piccolin joined Philips in 1989 as project leader in PHILIPS CONSUMER ELECTRONICS Car System Division – Rambouillet, France. He has held numerous positions in sales, marketing and senior management. Before taking current role, he was General Manager of Philips Lighting Greater China. Mr. Piccolin has been working for the last 10 years in mainland China and Hong Kong. His background is in project management, marketing and sales. In various general management positions, he has got a strong track record of driving growth and building up highly competent and motivated teams. In his current role as Chief Commercial Officer Philips Lighting Asia, he has strengthened the Philips’ leading position in lighting area in key Asian markets, with a special focus on promoting energy efficient solutions and Solid State Lighting. Mr. Piccolin, born in France, is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique – Paris and commanded many languages including French (native), English, German, Italian.

Dr. Benedict R. Schwegler, Jr., M.ASCE
Vice President and Chief Scientist, Walter Disney Imagineering (WDI) Research & Development

Dr. Ben Schwegler is Chief Scientist of Walt Disney Imagineering R&D and a Consulting Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University. He is a key executive for theme park and resort developments for the Walt Disney Company in the US, Europe, Japan, and Hong Kong. He and his research team are responsible for the development of tools and techniques as diverse as hydrological models, energy simulations, 4D software, integrated infrastructure designs and next generation entertainment effects. Ben’s mission is to invent, simulate, and deliver new knowledge and new technologies to improve the quality of the built environment. Ben is a board member of the Precourt Energy Efficiency Center at Stanford University and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Technical Divisions Advisory Board, and is a recipient of the Henry R. Michel Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers.  He has been a juror for the Sloan Prize for the best portrayal of science in a feature film at the Sundance Film Festival.

Mr. Chan Boon Seng
Regional General Manager of Yangtze River Delta, CapitaLand (China) Investment Co., Ltd.

Since 1994, Mr Chan has been overseeing the project management of all the CapitaLand residential and commercial projects in China. Today, he is the Chief Technical Officer of CapitaLand China Holdings and the Regional General Manager of Yangtze River Delta Region. Mr Chan graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from France, and a MSc (Construction Project Management) from University of Hong Kong.

Jun Xia
Regional Design Director, Gensler

Jun Xia is an exceptional designer who thrives on analyzing the physical, spatial, and behavioral aspects of a building within the framework of its constructability, economy, and aesthetics. His ability to realize design concepts has given his clients a clearer, deeper understanding of their projects at an early stage, allowing for more design collaboration, leading to award winning projects. Born and raised in Shanghai, Jun worked in Beijing, for the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, where he was involved with master planning, urban design, and the architectural design of housing, retail, and office buildings. In the U.S., Jun has worked with several leading companies, including Gallup, Invesco, MCI and Sun Microsystems. Internationally, he has worked on some of the most visionary projects to be developed in the past 20 years, including the Shanghai Tower.

Han Jihong
Professor, Ph.D, Deputy Director, the Green Building Construction Technology Center, Ministry of Housing and Urban and Rural Development, P.R.C.; Deputy Director, Institute of Building Innovation, Shanghai Research Institute of Building Science

Dr. Han Jihong is the Deputy Director of the Building Innovation Technology Division of Shanghai Research Institute of Building Sciences(SRIBS), the Administrative Vice Director of Green Building R&D Centre of the Ministry of Construction (MOC) and Member of Sustainable Development and Resource Environment Committee of MOC, China Green Building Council, CIB, iiSBE and ISIAQ. Ms. Han has been studying the key integration systemic technologies and popularizing the achievements about green building. She’s involved in the construction of the first eco-office demonstration project named by Shanghai Eco-building, which won the first prize of the MOC Green Building Innovation Award and the First 3-Star of China Green Building Evaluation and Label. She also edited, as the chief editor, the China Evaluation Standard for Green Building GB/T50378-2006, the Specifications for Technical Evaluation of Green Building (2007.6, MOC) and the Specifications for Technology Application of Green Building in 2010 Expo Area and so on. Now, she is leading the Eleventh-Five Key Research Projects on Green Building and Human Settlement Environment, Shanghai Eco-Housing Research, the only expo case on behalf of Shanghai in 2010 Shanghai Expo UBPA, and offering systematic consultant about green building for developers, including the developers of Shanghai Tower.

Li Hu
Partner, Steven Holl Architects

Li Hu, born in China in 1973, now lives and works in both Beijing and New York. He received his B.Arch in Tsinghua University in Beijing and M.Arch in Rice University in Houston. In 2000, he joined Steven Holl Architects and became the partner in 2005. Since 2006, he has been leading their Beijing office and the projects throughout Asia. He is the partner-in-charge for the Nanjing Museum of Art and Architecture, the Linked Hybrid in Beijing, the Vanke Center in Shenzhen, and Raffles City in Chengdu. Li Hu has been a frequent lecturer and critic at the universities in the U.S. and Asia. Most recently, he is appointed as the director of Columbia University GSAPP's Global Experimental Research Center, Studio-X in Beijing. Together with Steven Holl and Chang Yungho, Li Hu also founded the bilingual architectural journal 32: Beijing/New York in 2002. Since 2003, together with Huang Wenjing, he has also been leading the work of OPEN Architecture, a design and research studio dedicated to experimentation on design practice to bring architecture to the mass.

K. B.  Albert Chan
Director of Planning and Development, Shui On Development Ltd.

K. B. Albert Chan has 25 years of experience in planning, design and real estate development, including over 10 years of experience in China. Albert is currently the Director of Planning and Development at Shui On Land, a public company listed in Hong Kong and headquartered in Shanghai. He is currently responsible for the conceptualization, positioning and master planning of large scale developments by the company. From 1997 to 2001, he led the overall planning and design effort for the Shanghai Xintiandi, an adaptive reuse development widely regarded as a landmark in China. His previous responsibilities in Shui On also include the overall management of The Lakeville at Xintiandi residential development in Shanghai, and the master planning of over 20 million square meters of large scale mixed-use community developments in various cities in China. Prior to joining Shui On, Albert was a Project Director at the New York City Department of Design and Construction. He has also previously worked at Cooper, Robertson + Partners in New York. Albert’s education includes M.S. in Urban Design from Columbia University, M. Arch. from U.C. Berkeley, and MBA from the Stern School at New York University. He is a Registered Architect of New York State. Albert currently resides in Shanghai.

Dr. Vincent Cheng
Associate Director of Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong

Dr Vincent Cheng is an Associate Director of Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong, in charge of building sustainability development of the East Asia Region. He is specialised in sustainable master planning and building design, green code formulation, LEED assessment, life-cycle analysis and Air Ventilation Assessment (AVA), and has extensive experience on project management for sustainable master planning  projects and government consultancy studies, including the formulation of building regulation on Lighting and Ventilation, the CEPAS (BD’s code on green building assessment), life cycle assessment tools for EMSD and AVA assessment methodology for PlanD.

Currently, he has been involved in a number of pivotal Eco-city planning projects in the region, including the Shanghai Dongtan eco-city development, Beijing Changxi eco-city development, Wuhan Yongqing development as well as the Hong Kong Science Park Phase 3 sustainability development.

He has also been involved in more than 40 LEED projects in Hong Kong and the region, including the most recent Samsung Zero Energy Housing in Korea. His completed LEED projects range from Masterplanning (LEED-ND) to commercial Interior (LEED-CI) and has established the design strategies for archiving LEED standards.

He is the Council member of PGBC to advice the government and the professionals on sustainable building issues since 2008. Internally, he represents HK office for the Arup’s Sustainability Task Force and has involved in Arup’s development on the strategy for sustainability tools.

Mark Ginsberg
Senior Executive Board Member, EERE Board of Directors, U.S. Department of Energy

Mr. Mark Ginsberg was appointed by the Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) to serve on the newly created EERE Board of Directors. He and the Board direct EERE policy, strategies and budgets and serve as “ambassadors” for EERE.  As a senior executive advisor to the Assistant Secretary, his portfolio includes energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate change technologies. His international portfolio includes work with the European Union, Asia Pacific Partnership for Clean Development and Climate, and several bi-lateral agreements. Mr. Ginsberg served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Building Technology, State and Community Programs from 1997 to 2002. Previously, Mr. Ginsberg directed the Federal Energy Management Program, where he provided leadership for Federal agencies to reduce energy consumption $1 billion in their 500,000 buildings. Prior to joining DOE, he served as Director of the Arizona Energy Office. He recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Alliance to Save Energy. To recognize his lifetime contributions, the U.S. Green Building Council established a permanent Ginsberg Fellowship in 2003.

Khee Poh Lam
Professor of Architecture, School of Architecture, Carnegie Mellon University

Professor Lam teaches architectural design (focusing on systems integration), building performance modeling, building controls and diagnostics, and acoustics and lighting at Carnegie Mellon University. He is a member of the US Energy Foundation Board of Directors, and is actively involved in its China Sustainable Energy Program.  He was a building performance consultant for several award-winning projects in Singapore, and is currently engaged in projects in the United States and Taiwan. He is also Visiting Professor at the Department of Architecture, Chinese University of Hong Kong as well as at Xi’an Jiaotong University, China. Prior to his appointment at Carnegie Mellon in 2003, he held multiple positions at the National University of Singapore, including Acting Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Real Estate, Director of the Graduate School of the Built Environment as well as Head of the Department of Building.

Professor Lam has a Ph.D. in Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University, a BA in Architecture and Environmental Design and B. Arch. from Nottingham University (both with honors). He is a Licensed Architect (UK) with the Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Don Anderson
Vice President, ICF International

Don Anderson provides corporate sustainability consulting services, specializing in building portfolio performance improvement. He supports large corporate clients in sustainability initiatives and manages voluntary building efficiency programs in China and India. Mr. Anderson was recently invited to be the first US advisor to the China Green Building Council’s Green Public Buildings Group, founded in March 2008 by the China Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD). Mr. Anderson also provides strategic consulting to the US Green Building Council regarding their offering aimed at large portfolios of buildings. His 25 years of experience includes support for US initiatives, such as the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® and Green Lights Programs, for which he has developed decision-making and benchmarking tools. He also assisted the ENERGY STAR program in outreaching institutional investors and developing innovative messaging to help shareholders understand the business value of energy cost savings. 

Kevin Mo, Ph.D.
Senior Specialist, Sustainable Building, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)

Dr. Kevin Mo is a Senior Sustainable Building Specialist with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). He has 15 years of experience in building science, green building and energy efficiency, building codes and standards, and building energy modeling and simulation. Prior to NRDC, he worked for NAHB Research Center for six years on residential buildings and managed an award-winning energy efficiency housing program under U.S. Department of Energy. Before joining the Research Center, his research focused on commercial buildings and intelligent buildings for five years at Carnegie Mellon University. He was a lecturer at Tsinghua University’s School of Architecture from 1994-1997 and won the Science and Technology Progress Award from China’s Ministry of Culture for a feasibility study on the National Center for the Performing Arts. He received his Ph.D. in building performance from Carnegie Mellon, and also holds a master’s degree in building science and a bachelor’s degree in architecture.

Bert van den Berg
Senior Marketing Director, Philips Lighting Greater China

Mr. Bert van den Berg who joined Philips Lighting in 2007 as Senior Marketing Director at Business Unit Lamps Europe, started his assignment as Senior Marketing Director Lighting Greater China in April 2009. Previously he held positions in-and outside Philips predominantly in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods Industry.

He started his career with various marketing positions at Friesland Dairy Foods. Then he moved to PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he worked as senior management consultant. Three years later he joined Philips as regional marketing manager Philishave for Latin America and Europe and after that he became marketing director in South Korea for Domestic Appliances and Personal Care.

Bert van den Berg is experienced in aspect of marketing management. In his current position he is responsible for the activation of all marketing programs for Philips Lighting in Greater China.

An Jishen

Mr. An Jishen is currently the Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Yaohua Pilkington Glass Co., Ltd. and General Manager of Processed Glass Business, General Manager of Shanghai SYP Building Glass Co., Ltd, and General Manager of Shanghai SYP Engineering GLass Co., Ltd. Previously he is the Senior Deputy Technical Manager and Chief of R&D center of Shanghai Yaohua Pilkington Glass Co.,Ltd, Assistant General Manager of the company and General Manager of Processed Glass Business. Mr. An has a master degree postgraduate, and he is a MBA and senior engineer.

William R. O’Brien
Global Innovator Strategic Marketing Leader, Dow Corning

William R. O’Brien is a global innovation strategic marketer for Dow Coring Corporation in the Construction Industry. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1978 with a degree in Business Administration and in 1983 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He joined Dow Corning in 1984 in chemical plant design. Bill has served the construction industry in a variety of roles in technical service, product development and most recently innovation to meet the rapidly changing needs of the marketplace. He has been active in the development and implementation of new technologies utilizing the properties of the Silicon molecule to enhance the performance and sustainability of construction systems. His efforts have helped assure higher performing insulating glass units, more efficient window fabrication, reliable protective glazing, lower VOC cleaners and primers, as well as more durable water resistant porous materials such as concrete and fiber resistant concrete. Currently Bill is focusing on the need to improve the use of well designed construction materials together in systems to improve building sustainability.

Peter T. Huang
Business Director of DuPont Building Innovations, Greater China, and the General Manager of DuPont Surfaces (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd.

Mr. Huang joined in DuPont’s global headquarter in United States and started his career in this company as Senior Global Business Analyst in Fluoroproducts business.  In 2005, he was relocated to Asia, and then assigned various roles as Asia Pacific Market Development Manager and China Business Manager.  In 2007, he was appointed as Sales & Marketing Director, China for DuPont Electronics and Communication Technologies Platform.  In Feb 2009, he was named to his current role, and is responsible for DuPont’s businesses in the building and construction industries in Greater China market.

Prior to joining DuPont, Peter worked for A.T. Kearney as a management consultant in Asia, providing strategic guidance and consultation to various multinational companies and Chinese state-owned enterprises with the focus on corporate strategy, market entry strategy, corporate governance and reorganization.  Industry coverage included automobile and parts, textile and apparels, building material, home appliance, logistics, real estate, retailing, electronics, etc.

Peter received his master degree in international business management from Fudan University in China and master of business administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Beres Dowdle
Aurecon Executive, Leader Building Sciences Group

Beres has a Structural Engineering background specialising in the design of lightweight structures and dynamic analysis. He moved to engineering of the building fabric and acquired extensive knowledge in the performance analysis and design of Facades.  Beres has substantial experience in the analysis of shading, daylight and glare, and the comparative evaluation of thermal and visual comfort. His understanding of fabric systems and their impact on the building form and performance provides a unique insight into total engineered solutions. He has particular interest in fully integrated facades incorporating ESD principles and the use of glass as the prime architectural element, utilising glass as structure as well as the energy-modifying medium.

Beres led the multi-discipline design team for the Australian Greenhouse Award winning Regatta Point Visitors centre in Canberra and has recently studied in the Masters in Design Science, Energy Conservation Program at the University of Sydney.

Huang Jianzhi
Vice Director of Shanghai World Expo Coordination Bureau, Vice Director of Shanghai Construction Commission

Huang Jianzhi is Vice Director of Shanghai Municipal Construction and Communications Commission and Vice Director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination. Mr. Huang has been involved in Shanghai urban construction and management for many years and was former Secretary-general and Vice Director of Shanghai Municipal Construction Commission.

Ma Weijun
Vice-Chief Engineer, East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co. (ECADI)

Mr. Ma Weijun is the vice-chief engineer of East China Architectural Design and Research Institute Ltd., Co. He is the Engineering professor of the institute,National registered utility engineer. Mr. Ma is also deputy director of Chinese Architecture Association HVAC committee, member of shanghai senior title jury committee.
As a professional engineer, Mr. Ma has designed several projects since year 1983. Those projects are including: Shimao International plaza, Chinese Communist Party School, Renhen riverside garden etc. He has been rewarded in city key point project, excellent youth reward of ECADI.

Taylor Whitman
Vice President, Business Development, Gale International

Taylor Whitman serves as Vice President of Business Development for Gale International and is responsible for developing, cultivating and managing strategic relationships as well as evaluating potential business opportunities for Gale International and its portfolio of projects with a focus in China. Prior to joining Gale International in 2007, Mr. Whitman was an Associate in the Capital Markets Group at IDT Corporation, where he was responsible for corporate development and all capital market activities undertaken by the company, specifically M&A and corporate finance. Before IDT, Mr. Whitman was an Analyst at Citigroup Venture Capital, a private equity firm based in New York City.

Vidur Bharadwaj
Chairman of Delhi Chapter of Indian Green Building Council; Director, The 3C Group

The driving force of GREEN ARCHITECTURE, Mr. Vidur Bharadwaj is the initiator of sustainable developments in Delhi and NCR.

A graduate from School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi, Vidur has taken his creativity to new heights with his dynamic and innovative designs that have brought accolades for him and his team for developing buildings that are sustainable in form, function and use. Chairman of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), Delhi Chapter, Vidur is also the Advisor for Hong Kong Development Group on “Sustainable Architecture in Urban Cities”. Vidur is also the Managing Partner in Design and Development, the only architectural firm in India, which is in the process of being awarded carbon credits for Green Buildings.

Vidur is the only architect in the world who has been awarded to have designed TWO PLATINUM rated LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified Green Buildings under the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) umbrella for Wipro Campus Gurgaon in 2005 and Patni Campus Noida in 2008 which are saving up to 48% on their energy costs.

An avid reader and orator, Vidur has been contributing articles in various publications of repute. He remains the foremost choice as a speaker at many national and international forums discussing reduction of carbon footprint on earth.

Richard F. Smith, MSc CEng FCIBSE
Technical Director for Middle East & India, Chair of Carbon Critical Buildings, Atkins Group; past Vice Chair, the Emirates Green Building Council

Richard is a chartered building services engineer with over 30 years of experience. He is the Chair of Carbon Critical Buildings for the Atkins Group and past Vice Chair of the Emirates Green Building Council. For the past decade Richard has led the design of large complex building and small scale urban projects and has specialised in the delivery of low energy integrated design solutions. He still practices as an Engineer in the energy, commercial and industrial sectors and is able to bring his experience and innovation to find solutions to complex questions.
Richard also leads a team of specialists in the Middle East region who provide professional services for sustainability, building physics, vertical transportation, acoustics, fire engineering and ICT-S.

His first role in the Middle East started in 1996 where until 1999, he delivered the technology packages for the Burj Al Arab Hotel. He returned in 2001 to the Sultanate of Oman to deliver the design for the prestigious Barr Al Jissah resort and in 2003 transferred to Dubai to take up a regional role for building services and also lead a number of large projects including the new “The Address” hotel in Dubai.

Tim McEnery
Vice President – International, U.S. Green Building Council

As the Vice President of International, Tim is responsible for the development and execution of USGBC’s international strategy around LEED. His specialized experience is within the field of strategic program planning, business transformation, sustainable business practices, green buildings markets, and natural resource utilization. He has over 16 years of professional experience working within the international and U.S. markets at the federal and commercial level.

Prior to the USGBC, Tim worked for the strategy management consulting firm, Booz Allen Hamilton, for 12 years. In that capacity, he was a senior leader in the Environment and Sustainability group. His market focus was on sustainable business practices, green buildings, carbon management, and the management of large-scale business transformation projects. Before joining Booz Allen, Mr. McEnery was a consultant in the area of international marine policy working with the NGO community supporting United Nations sub-agencies. He enjoyed a previous career playing semi-professional soccer in France.

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Tim holds a double B.A. from the University of San Francisco in International Politics and French. He earned an M.A. from the American University in International Law/International Organization with a specialization in natural resource management.

Michael R. Lorenz, PE, LEED® AP
President, National Managing Principal, KlingStubbins

Michael R. Lorenz, PE, LEED® AP is responsible for worldwide operations and strategic initiatives. Previously, he served as KlingStubbins’ Director of Engineering, responsible for all MEP systems design spearheading initiatives in energy efficiency, new technologies and sustainable systems for some of the most advanced buildings in the world, including highly reliable mission critical facilities and ultra-sensitive laboratory and manufacturing environments.

Mr. Lorenz has been an active member of the US Green Building Council (LEED Accreditation) and served on the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for Energy and Environment. Other affiliations include the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE). He has authored many articles on building systems, commissioning and sustainable issues. His most recent article in the US based Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine addresses practical ways to meet the 2030 challenge in new building projects.

Mr. Lorenz earned a Master and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from The Penn State University in the United States and currently serves on the Advisory Board for Penn State’s Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department and on the Board of Directors for the Architectural Engineering department’s newly-formed Center for Sustainability.
