Top Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
  • How do I change my startup page?
The first time you sign in to the McGraw-Hill Construction Network you will see the Network Welcome page. On the Welcome page, you are given a choice of either learning more about your service by viewing the Network tutorial, or going directly to your Network home page, also referred to as your startup page. For subsequent sessions, you will see your startup page immediately after you sign in.

SERVICE LEVEL DIFFERENCE - If you have Basic level service, your startup page will always show search results. A list of the projects that match the search criteria in your Default saved search will be displayed. This makes it easy to start viewing the projects you want right away. The navigation line will say Projects > Search Results.

If you have Platinum or Plus level service, you can choose the page you want to appear as your startup page from among the following: Main menu, Search Projects, My Folders, My Account, Network Welcome. There are two places where you can choose the page you want to be your startup page.

You can choose from a drop down list on either the Account page or the bottom of the Main menu.
  • How do I follow the progress of a project?
Tracking folders are for storing lists of the projects you need to keep track of. Most often, these would be projects that hold the most interest for you, but sometimes these could be projects that you want the Network to keep track of and withhold from your searches because they are of no interest to you. A folder for each of these types of projects is provided.

  • How do I delete projects so that I don't see them in future searches?
From a search results list or Project Details page, you can choose to hide selected projects that are of no interest to you, so they don't appear in any future searches. The projects you have chosen to hide are kept in a folder named Hidden Projects. The Hidden Projects folder cannot be deleted or renamed.

  • How do I look at only those projects that have plans for my search results?
On every search results page, there are three search buttons that enable you to modify your results to include All projects meeting your search criteria, projects that are new or updated in the system since your last login, or projects matching your search criteria that have plans, specifications or addenda in the McGraw-Hill Construction database. You can toggle your search results from one of these categories to another by clicking the buttons labeled All, New/updated, or w/plans.

SERVICE LEVEL DIFFERENCE - The buttons referenced above appear differently for Basic and Plus users. Refer to the image below.

  • How do I search for projects outside my subscription area?

SERVICE LEVEL DIFFERENCE - This preference setting is not available at the Basic service level.

If you have Plus level service and you want to be able to search for projects outside of your subscription territory, you can check the box on the My account page labeled Allow me to search for projects outside of my subscription. When this box is not checked, the geographical locations displayed on the Search projects page are limited to only those within your subscription territory. When this box is checked, then the geographical locations displayed on the Search projects page will include all geography so that you can choose locations both within and outside of your subscription territory. There will also be a check box in the geography section of the Search projects page labeled Show projects outside of my subscription. You must check this box if you want your search results to include projects for any locations you may have chosen that are outside of your subscription territory. By not checking this box on the Search projects page, you can "turn off" the out of territory search feature for the current search you are performing, even though you have enabled it for all searches on the My account page.
