Find Projects in Your Area Based on Your Trade -
The Trade wizard will create 2 custom project searches for you, complete with emailed search results, based on your choice of 22 trades.
- ‘Project News Trade Search’ – This custom search is focused on general building projects plus any single trade reports coded to your selected trade (e.g. ITEM: Demolition).
- 'Specification Trade Search’ – This custom search is focused on keywords relevant to your selected trade in the appropriate CSI division(s).
- To access the Trade Search Wizard, click the Find Projects in your Area based on your Trade link from the Dodge Power Tools area on the left side of the Main Menu page.
The first screen of the Trade Search Wizard displays.
- Select your Trade (you may only select one) & Click the Next Action Stage button at the bottom.
The trade that you choose determines the keywords and divisions that are selected by the wizard as your search criteria for the spec search. To view a list of the exact criteria used, see the table below.
- On the second screen of the wizard, select:
- Projects Action Stage: choose if you wish to limit your search to Projects that are in the Bidding, Planning, or Awarded stages, or choose All Stages.
- Projects Publish Date: choose to display Projects that were published in the Last Week, the Last Month, or since your Last Session (maximum 30 days).
- Run this search and email the updated results to me: select how often you wish to receive these search results via email. Your options are Daily, Weekly or Do not email me.
- Click the Find My Projects button at the bottom of the wizard to create your searches (because the system is generating 2 custom searches for you, you may experience a slight delay).
- The final screen of the wizard provides links to the two Trade searches that were created, a News search and Spec search.
- Click one of the links to see the search results.
Note: Your searches are saved as:

My [Trade you chose in the first screen of the wizard] Spec Search
After you run the Trade Wizard, 2 custom searches are created & saved for you, A News based search and a Spec based search.
The News search is NOT editable. To change the criteria of the News search, you will need to re-run the Trade Search Wizard to create a new search which will overwrite the previous one.
The Spec search is fully editable, it is recommended that you rename the search once it is saved because if you re-run the trade wizard with the same trade, it will be overwritten.
 To rename your Trade Wizard Spec search:
- Select the Spec search from the dropdown on the Projects tab.
- Click the Save As button on the right.
- In the Save Search Profile popup (seen right). Type the new name for the search & select the Save button.
- Your search has now been renamed and will appear in the dropdown list & Folder.
The table below shows the search criteria that is automatically generated by the Trade Search Wizard for a spec search, depending on which trade you choose.
