J. Stuart Eckblad, AIAJ. Stuart Eckblad, AIA has over 30 years experience as an owner responsible for the planning, design
and construction of major hospitals and medical facilities. He has extensive experience in creating and implementing Integrated Project Delivery methods for major capital programs that incorporate new methods for team building, new roles and accountabilities; risk sharing, process management, electronic systems and contracts to optimize project results.

Stuart is a founding member and past President of the Collaborative Process Institute, an organization created by owners, designers and builders to energize the design and construction industry to reinvent traditional processes and business structures, mix alternative delivery methods and optimize innovation in building design and construction projects.

Served as Chair of the AIACC Integrated Project Delivery Definition Committee. Currently Chair of the AIACC Integrated Project Delivery Steering Committee, President of the Center for Innovation & Design in the Construction Industry, Director of Design & Construction at UCSF Medical Center and Project Delivery for the UCSF Medical Center Hospital Project at Mission Bay.

He was one of the authors of the original AIA IPD Guide, and continues to shape AIA IPD thinking as a member of the Editorial Committee for the IPDG.v2.

He is a licensed Architect in California.

Joann Gonchar, AIA, LEED AP, is a senior editor at Architectural Record and a contributing editor to GreenSource magazine. She joined Record and GreenSource in 2006, after working for eight years at their sister McGraw-Hill publication, Engineering News-Record. Before starting her career as a journalist, Joann worked for several architecture firms and spent three years in Kobe, Japan, with the firm, Team Zoo, Atelier Iruka. She earned a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University. She is licensed to practice architecture in New York State.

Ann Killeen, AIA, NCARB, LEED APAs managing principal of Anshen+Allen’s San Francisco office, Ms. Killeen is responsible for its financial performance and quality design delivery. She brings tremendous energy to all aspects of the practice and establishes the firm’s high standards of excellence.

Drawing on more than 21 years of experience designing, documenting, and managing a wide array of healthcare and academic projects, Ms. Killeen has developed a set of management tools that has become a staple of the firm’s operations. Her innovative approach to organizing and running individual projects and teams is derived from both her earlier education in mathematics & quantitative analysis and her sensitivities as an experienced architect. Her approach focuses on strong project administration to secure the overarching goal of exceptional architectural design.

Adopted as the standard for all Anshen+Allen projects, Ms. Killeen’s approach has guided delivery of some of the most successful healthcare and academic projects in the nation, as evidenced by the firm’s numerous, recent design awards, and has resulted in strong, ongoing relationships with some of the most prestigious healthcare and academic institutions in the nation.

George Pfeffer

George PfefferGeorge Pfeffer, executive vice president for DPR Construction, offers more than 20 years of construction and engineering experience on technically challenging and green projects for healthcare, life sciences, advanced technology and corporate office markets. As a member of DPR’s Management Committee, Pfeffer leads the company’s National Operations Group and provides strategic direction to ensure that DPR continues to “build great things” for its customers and employees across the country. Involved in all phases of projects from preconstruction to delivery, Pfeffer drives continuous improvement throughout the 1,700-person organization, including enhancing overall construction delivery through processes and technology such as Integrated Project Delivery and BIM. His expertise includes management of preconstruction, cost control systems, value engineering, scheduling and constructability studies. Pfeffer received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Brown University.

Viktor Várkonyi is the CEO of GRAPHISOFT. He is a seasoned industry professional who has spent two decades on the design of workflow solutions for ArchiCAD, a leading BIM solution for architects. Viktor holds a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the Budapest University of Technology and an MBA from Purdue University.
