Engineering News-Record Presents:
Oil and Gas Production from Shale:
Opportunities & Risks

Complimentary Webinar

August 21, 2013
2:00 - 3:00 PM ET

The discovery of vast reserves of natural gas embedded in shale plays across the nation has both transformed the energy debate in the United States and created enormous controversy.  Some states have already called for moratoriums on a process used to extract the natural gas, hydraulic fracturing or "fracking," over concerns that it could harm the water supply.  But others, such as North Dakota with its Bakken Shale formation, are moving ahead to implement the approach safely and responsibly in natural gas and oil production.  Although the oil and gas reserves in the shale formations represent huge potential to provide a home-grown source of energy, as well as a wide array of construction, engineering and production jobs, those who work in the industry bear great responsibility to ensure that drilling, extraction and production of natural gas and oil are done without causing harm to participants or to the environment, particularly the water supply and air quality.  This webinar will explore the biggest challenges in the fracking marketplace, and how industry firms are developing new technologies and solutions to ensure safety and environmental protection, as well as an update on state and federal research and recommendations.
