Solarban 70XL solar control, low-e glass, pictured here on the Northwest Science Building at Harvard University, blocks more than 70 percent of the sun’s heat energy yet transmits more than 60 percent of its visible light. According to an energy study, substituting Solarban 70XL glass for dual-pane tinted glass in a standard, 200,000-square-foot school building can reduce initial HVAC equipment costs by up to $125,000 and annual energy costs by as much as 5 percent.
