CIPs are strategic, long-range plans—often spanning four to ten years—that governments, universities, and large organizations use to schedule, budget, and prioritize major physical investments, such as:
- New construction (schools, municipal buildings, recreation centers).
- Major infrastructure (roads, bridges, water treatment plants).
- System upgrades (HVAC modernization, electrical replacements).
A Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) transcends a simple list of upcoming work; it serves as a validated inventory of funded opportunities that facilitates strategic decision-making, secures a competitive advantage, and supports long-term business growth.
To perform a search for Capital Improvement Plans, follow these steps:
- Click the ‘Search’ tab at the top of the screen.
- Change the search parameter to ‘CIPs’.
- Select the desired region.
- CIPs are keyword-searchable. To locate a specific project, enter the relevant keyword(s) into the ‘Search Keyword(s)’ field.
- Leave the date field blank.
- Click the ‘Search’ button located next to the keyword field or at the bottom of the screen.
- After the results appear, select the ‘Details’ link under the ‘Document Content’ column. The entered keyword will be highlighted in yellow within the document.
Note: The keyword search will look for the exact phrase entered across all chosen parameters. Multiple phrases can be separated by a comma, and the results will include documents containing either phrase.
